Traffic stop on Ottawa highway leads to seizure of weapons

A 48-year-old man from Scarborough, Ont., is facing multiple charges after police found three handguns in a vehicle that was stopped on Highway 417 in Ottawa.
The Ontario Provincial Police said officers from the Ottawa detachment pulled over the vehicle in the city’s west end just before 2 p.m. on Thursday. They then found the three weapons, plus ammunition.

The driver of the vehicle, Lance Rowe, was charged with: six counts of possession of firearm or ammunition while prohibited; two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm; three counts of knowledge or unauthorized possession of a firearm; two counts of possession of loaded firearms; three counts of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition; carrying firearms or weapons in a careless manner; and four counts of failure to comply with a release order.
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing, an OPP media release said.
