France detects first case of new mpox variant

France has confirmed its first case of the mpox virus, clade 1b variant, in Brittany, the health ministry announced Monday. The WHO continues to uphold its highest alert amid the ongoing epidemic. Measures to monitor and control the spread, linked to close contact transmission, are in effect.
