Coronation Street star Charlotte Jordan, who playesDaisy Midgley on the long-running ITV soap, has landed a big-money role abroad ahead of her soap exit
A former Coronation Street star has landed a money-spinning role away from the UK after announcing she is set to leave the ITV soap. Charlotte Jordan, 29, is best known for her role as Daisy Midgley on the Corrie cobbles. However, just weeks after leaving the famous soap, she’s put pen to paper for a new project.
Charlotte has signed up for a tell-all live show where she’s expected to reveal a number of behind-the-scenes secrets from her past role. The job will see her embark on a Coronation Street-themed tour of Canada – and starts as soon as next month.
She will be joined by former cast mate Sally Ann Matthews as they take part in the Jenny & Daisy Rovers Return live gigs. The experience will see the former stars share their memories with fans of the show, with backstage secrets also thought to be ready to be spilled.
Tickets will cost around £40 per person, but there is also a chance for the VIP treatment. For an extra £60, fans will be able to pose for selfies with the pair after the show and get a closer meet and greet.
The duo aren’t the first former Corrie stars to sign up for live stage appearances. Recently, Joe Duttine was said to be charging fans £60 a head to listen to his one man live show. Samia Longchambon also has a summer event incoming as she signed up for an event in the style of An Audience With…
Charlotte’s exit from the long-running soap comes as up to 75 cast and crew members are said to be at risk of losing their jobs on the set in the coming weeks following further cut announcements.
Earlier in the year, Charlotte opened up on her decision to leave her role after almost five years, telling The Sun: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish.
“It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much. After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.”
At the time, a source told The Sun that “Charlotte has loved her time on the cobbles but is young, ambitious and hungry to see what else is out there for her.
“She told bosses last April that her next contract would be her last, giving them a year to craft an exciting exit storyline. She’s still filming now and her final scenes will play out in early summer. She’s adored by cast and crew and will be hugely missed.”
Her character was involved in a number of crucial storylines during her time on the show. They included Daisy being central to a blackmail plot, and being stalked by Justin Rutherford, which culminated in Daisy and Ryan being the victims of an acid attack.
Both the Katie Piper Foundation and Acid Survivors Trust International supported the production team when the scenes were filmed, and provided information on the long term impact of an acid attack.
